The Day of Your Birth

Tomorrow is my birthday. I feel very unaccomplished in the academic arena. I always pictured myself having a demanding job in a place far removed from where I am now. But as always life takes me in other directions...

Anywho, I've been working on a lot of custom knitting this summer. In fact I have been knitting customs since May and I am getting near my end both in items requiring my attention and my attention itself. I am taking a long break from knitting customs. I may start up again after the first of the year. I am taking this break to knit for myself and my family, something I hardly ever get to indulge in. I do enjoy knitting for other people and I may on occasion take a random one here and there but there will be no customs stocked through my store nor will I be offering them up for trade.

With that being said, here is what I have been working on this summer.....

A TINY Tea Leaves cardigan knit for a local yarn store in Colorado as a store sample:

Asparagus Overdye-me

Way back in November, I bought this yarn:

I was going to make a really cool cardigan called Shalom. Problem with Shalom: it's not a sized pattern. It was written for a 6' tall skinny girl. Not so great when you're 5 ft and not so skinny. Well I tried knitting it and it didn't work out so well. During Ravelympics, I frogged it and put the yarn in the naughty yarn bin. I liked the feel of the yarn and the drape but the color was bad for me. I mean I could wear it for like a hat or a scarf, but when you're pushing 30 a bright blue sweater's not a good idea.

So today, I was searching Ravelry desperately trying to find Madtosh Vintage in Tart or some other cool color to make a Calvados cardi for me. Then I found this other cardi called Austin's hoodie. That one's yarn is even harder to find. So this whole weekend all I did was search to no avail for these two yarns.

Anywho, I started thinking about the Emmaline sweater and how cute it is and that I had this yarn I could use but it was the scary blue yarn. hhmph. I decided to overdye it. Which pretty much means that you dye something that is already dyed another color. In my heart of hearts I would have tried to copy Madtosh and attempt to produce Tart but I couldn't ever recreate that. I'm not that cool. I'll just keep searching in vain for that one. I grabbed some green and away we go!

Knittin Fool

So lately I feel like I have been a knitting fool. Well not really. I posted an ISO (In Search Of) on DS (Diaper Swappers) asking for trades for my knitting. I had 4 people respond requesting 10 items. Yikes. Well here's some of the progress as well as the finished product of Michael's Romper. I have off from school this week so I should be able to put a dent in my obligations. :)

First up: A sun Hat that will be stocking Here:

First Blog Post

So I have decided that I needed to start a blog to keep my customs list straight and to talk about nonsense like everyone else. Because, you know I don't have anything else to do. yea right but that's a different post. So today I am busy knitting for my step-neph who turns 1 in a few weeks, here's a pic of his 'lil romper. :)
